Observation notes: This is what you wrote on a Sonoma County record I submitted in March 2020 " This is BAMONA taxonomy. This would more accurately be called C. dumetorum dumetorum. Callophrys dumetorum perplexa is in southern California. The Coastal Green Hairstreak is now Callophrys viridis. Both are in Sonoma County. C. viridis should have more green on the forewing. Both could occur at the same localities. 1243822.But I noticed that there aren't any perplexa submissions past 2021. So, is this dumetorium now? I have never to my knowledge seen the Coastal Green Hairstreak.

Coordinator notes: Yes, Callophrys perplexa by decision by the ICZN turned this back to its previous name. Yes, your submitted photo more resembles perplexa the southern California subspecies but most northern California populations are subspecies dumetorum. Possibly, future researchers may decide this species has such a checkerboard of phenotypes they might make perplexa a synonym of dumetorum as one worker proposed already.- What was called dumetorum for the Coastal Green Hairstreak is now back to Callophrys viridis.-Ken Davenport
