Observation notes: This butterfly was sitting very still with its wings extended for at least 3-5 minutes. The picture does not portray the butterfly in all its beauty. The dots on either side were bright red. The radiating lines were bright blue. The bulk of the wing was black, and it was all outlined in a bright white. It was beautiful.

Coordinator notes: Southernmost Texas is the only place in the US you're likely to see one of these. Great sighting.
