Observation notes: Skittish butterfly, usually took off before I saw it along the trail. Did land on the trail once where I managed to take this photo. Hot day, temp in 80s.

Coordinator notes: I had a Northern Checkerspot (Chlosyne palla) today at Ant Canyon along the Kern River, Some believe Gabb's and Northerns may be conspecific. They are at least closely related-Ken Davenport
