Boisduval's Blue
Plebejus icarioides

Observation date: July 13, 2019
Submitted by: stevecary
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: male. not lygdamus. width of submarginal DFW black 'band' seems to eliminate several things. DHW submargin has black smudges. no underside shot, sadly.
Status: Resident

Coordinator notes: Certainly icaroides....should be commonly called the "Lupine Blue" since it uses only lupine for host across the entire western U.S. The "Lupine Blue" aka P. lupini doesn't use lupine at all anywhere, the immatures use only buckwheats (Eriogonum). Mike
