Observation notes: By an old paved road -- now largely broken up -- that goes down into Cascade Canyon on Mt. Baldy. This butterfly was seen as the trail neared the bottom of the canyon. It landed on the trail and then flew onto Yerba Santa (Eriodictyon trichocalyx), as shown in the photos. Weather was sunny with a few high clouds; temperature in the low 60°s F.
