Observation notes: I feel this is a good candidate for a Canadian Tiger Swallowtail. The early date, the wide dark stripe on the inner margin of the dorsal hindwing, and the unbroken pale stripe along the ventral margin of the forewing (the visible spots there I think are bleeding through from the sunlit dorsal side). I didn't measure it, but this butterfly did not strike me as large for a Tiger Swallowtail, although I wouldn't characterize it as particularly small either.
