Coordinator notes: Based on the documented range, this sighting appears to be M. clytie. However, several reviewers believe this sighting has a strong resemblance to M. leda, which has not been documented from the sighting locale. The relationship, if any, between M. clytie in s. Texas and M. leda in the desert Southwest seems unknown and more study is perhaps needed on sightings of these two species in west Texas and northeast Mexico, especially along the Rio Grande between McAllen and Langtry to see if they have distinct ranges, or possibly transition in this area.
