Observation date: July 04, 2018

Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Observed on Asclepias speciosa (Showy Milkweed) growing on ditch bank in degraded pasture land on a warm sunny day with light wind blowing. This butterfly would move to another flower when bothered by the bees that were present but never opened it's wings that I could see or photograph. There is a definite violet sheen on the outer half of both upper wings.

Coordinator notes: Your suggested ID of the Striped Hairstreak is correct. This is a newly emerged female - the reason you saw the violet reflection on the wings. Not a commonly submitted sighting. Mike
