Observation notes: Found 2 caterpillars feeding on Kankankee Mallow (same plants the Bagisara gulnare on Aug. 3, 2018 was sighted resting behind on house siding). I brought the caterpillars in and provided them with Kankankee Mallow leaves until they disappeared into about an inch of peat provided in the glass container. On Sept. 17, 2018, while moving the container, I noticed that a cocoon mostly surrounded by silk could be seen through the bottom of the container. The second caterpillar that burrowed into the peat a few days later is still a very green caterpillar curled up and surrounded by silk. On Sept. 23, 2018, the moth emerged in the morning and was released after photographing it.
