Observation notes: Caterpillars found on the ridge top on Forest Road 7N53 (Six Rivers NF), the access road to Grizzly Camp. This particular location is precisely on the Humboldt/Trinity Co boundary. Several other caterpillar species found on nearby bushes. Area is a col, and subject to high winds much of the time. Slightly surprised that the bears common observed here haven't eaten them yet. I also observed this group on May 11 when they were much smaller.
