Observation notes: Observed three individuals, each at least 1/4 mile apart, all basking on a gravel/dirt trail. Two flew away too fast to photograph and the third allowed only time for one quick photo at 10 feet. The Google map calls the trail Eklutna Lake Road, but it is Eklutna Lakeside Trail. I've only seen one of these butterflies in the previous 4-5 years of observations in this and adjacent valleys.
