Observation notes: A typically-warm high-overcast summer day in a restored prairie at Merritt Prairie. There were mostly sunflower-related native plants in bloom (but not sunflowers as such), as well as a good number of blooming monardas. The butterflies (there were many of this kind; these are, I think, three individuals) were feeding mostly on the sunflowerlike flowers, while there were even more bees feeding particularly on the monardas (which I suppose is why they're called beebalm) and also the sunflowerlike flowers, many stands of which reach 8-feet high or more, so I can only see near the edges near the mown paths. The butterflies were seen on both sides of the wooded stream that divides the prairie.
