Observation notes: Noticed this butterfly at first because of its size compared to the Acmon Blue I was trying to photograph. It was on the ground in meadow area near Square Lake. Much of the surrounding area had burnt in last year's August Complex Fire.

Coordinator notes: If this is subspecies nigromaculata, it would be a range extension and a COUNTY record. The question is how large are the spots below in the general population. It would also be a state LATE record for California. No way to tell without seeing a series.-Ken Davenport.
