Observation notes: Caterpillar dead or nearly so, perhaps due to cooler weather. Other droppings below another Annona tree. Full size hand. Shocking size.

Coordinator notes: Definitely a larva of Cocytius antaeus. I don't believe this is a state record. The moths have been associated with Cherimoya fruit trees, these are grown in tropical zones of southern CA including slightly inland where only light frosts occur. Perhaps a stray female laid eggs, weather prevented full development to pupae? Interesting. Thank you!
