Coordinator notes: Until 13 years ago, this was one of the rarest butterflies to fly into California from Baja California or Arizona, now it has annexed San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura Counties as a new resident. That was the result of planting their host plants in suburban gardens. I approve of our new resident, they are beautiful but very difficult to catch with a net! They are fast and elusive! ...Ken Davenport
