Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: It was getting nectar from Fragrant Aster (Symphyotrichum oblongifolium) flowers. It kept moving. The colors of the dorsal side of the wings looked different depending upon the angle at which the wings were viewed. When viewed from an angle its coloration suggests a Checkerspot or Crescent, but when viewed straight on it looks like a Common Checkered-Skipper. Based on the stocky abdomen, that's what I think it is.
