Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Luna Moth, believed to be a female based on the brown line following the bottom of the wings. Just short of 4” long from head to tail. About the same width from wing tip to wing tip. Found in Rowlett, Texas. Moth was dormant on a outside wall. It was either getting close to the end of its life based on the dropping wings and inactivity, or it was waiting for late night when it releases a chemical that attracts a male mate to reproduce. Very sunny and warm day.
