Observation notes: First sighting of these for me, and ironically, I used to work in the canyon directly below this spot 40 years ago. Seen up on the higher ridges flying with Chalcedon and a couple Palla. Sunny low 70's day with lots in bloom. Seemed to prefer the white Achillea. Much smaller than the Chalcedon. Rich and diverse habitat with lots of nectar plants. Also, I remember there is lots of Casilleja growing in this area of the eastern slopes of the Santa Cruz mountains.
