Observation notes: It was cloudy with a bit of drizzle, about 60 degrees. The caterpillar was on an oak bush. San Juan Canyon, Jemez Mountains, New Mexico. About 7800’ elevation in a canyon near the broken, rocky SE facing canyon wall. Ponderosa, juniper, oak forest.

Coordinator notes: Food plant (oak) makes sense and helps to confirm that this is not Automeris zephyria, which is what I thought at first. Interesting sighting.
