Coordinator notes: Melissa, thanks for sharing this terrific image. True, this is a very dark buckeye, but there is too much color (orange, etc.) for this to be "Dark Buckeye." Gray Buckeye actually occurs in a range of darknesses . . . this is toward the dark end of the spectrum, but still comfortably within Gray Buckeye. the date is quite late, but we also have a Dec. 26 date. Overall a very nice record and a nice image which I would like to borrow for BofNM . . . is that OK? it will help us illustrate the dark end of the phenotypic spectrum for this species.
