Observation notes: I thought these emerged later and it also wasn't really near any living trees, so I'm not sure, but I didn't see any indication of markings on the upper wing and the shape didn't seem like that of the cabbage?

Coordinator notes: Your suggested ID is correct...sometimes a species will turn up in places for no obvious reason. I did not check to see what the altitude of your sighting location but if in a favorable spot marginalis emerge as early as April and give it time to produce a successive brood. Mike
