Observation notes: Sunny day. He was enjoying the the bull thistle's nectar until a bee chased him off. The thistle was found by the blackberry bushes in Oak Glen Preserve and Southern California Montane Botanic Garden.

Coordinator notes: The FW eye spot is positioned closer to the edge of the black border on California, as it is on this individual. It is more centrally positioned on the Southern.
