Observation notes: the butterfly (a male) is on Euphorbia peplus (Petty Spurge).
Male Anthocharis sara are usually difficult to photograph as they almost never sit still, but this one posed nicely. It was spotted at the Claremont Colleges' Robert J. Bernard Biological Field Station (http://www.bfs.claremont.edu).
