Coordinator notes: Coordinator 1: Platynota sp. Coordinator 2: I agree this is a Platynota sp rather than Choristoneur, but many of the Platynota species are difficult to disinguish in photos, as noted on the Moth Photography Group's web site.

In reviewing all the possibilities, many photos of Platynota rostrana on MPG and bug guide look much like the subject sighting as far as wing pattern and color, much more so than other possibilities, and it is on that basis I am calling the sighting Platynota rostrana.

There is also a verified sighting of this species on BAMONA from the submitter dated 5-16-2012 that looks very similar to the subject sighting. The blackish marks on the wings of this sighting, while not evident on some of these similar photos just noted, are shown on other photos of the species.
