Observation notes: Caterpillars with tent removed from an apple tree in my yard. I had a large outbreak of western tent caterpillars and have removed hundreds this spring. In the last few days I have found two webs of the Y. malinellus, the first I have found in 20+ years of picking tent caterpillars off my fruit trees. Note the second photograph has a 1mm grid overlay based on the 1:1 ratio recorded on my macro lens.
