Observation notes: Nectaring on Blue Dicks (Dichelostemma capitatum ssp. capitatum) the Claremont Colleges' Bernard Field Station in an area dominated by non-native grasses (largely Bromus diandrus, Bromus madritensis ssp. rubens, and Avena barbata) mixed with some native sage scrub annuals and perennials, including Common Fiddleneck (Amsinckia intermedia) and Distant Phacelia (Phacelia distans) as well as Blue Dicks. Weather unseasonably warm (90°F), partly cloudy, with light wind (2-5 mph).
