Sycamore Tussock Moth
Halysidota harrisii

Observation date: June 13, 2015
Submitted by: mywifehatesbugs
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: It was a sunny day and I found this on a Crepe Myrtle. It is about 3/4 of an inch in length. I have since seen many little ones on my trash can in the same area. They looked like little babies that were solid white. I also have Bradford Pear trees in the same area. Can you please help me identify as I have never seen one of these in the 53 years I have lived in Texas.
Status: Resident

Coordinator notes: These could have wandered from their foodplant, sycamore. There should be a sycamore tree somewhere nearby.
