Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Warm Fall Warm late summer evening on the nightly "caterpillar hunt". Eating a Catawba grape leaf, I'd been aware of its presence for well over a month, but finally able to reach it. It's only been eating the Catawba variety, and nothing else. This is the first of this species I have ever seen here. Typically have the basic tomato horn worm AND the tobacco horn worm. So far, this is the only one. As they lose their horn, there may have been a second individual, but before I could reach it, a bird consumed.(It was much smaller, with the horn still on it.)I will take the two seasons and rear to adulthood.
