Observation date: May 12, 2016
Submitted by: Allen Belden
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Older urban neighborhood with numerous large trees. Attracted to mercury vapor light. Yard has abundant Smilax rotundifolia and S. glauca. Suggested name (A. heppneri rather than A. incertella) based on timing and condition of specimen (worn but still decent). A. heppneri reportedly emerges in the fall and overwinters. A. incertella reportedly emerges in May and also overwinters. If specimen were A. incertella, it would likely be either fresh or extremely worn, neither of which are the case.
