Coordinator notes: The well developed band on the hind wing below separates this from the Common Wood-Nymph in your area. Thanks for the added photo of the lower side-Ken Davenport. P.S. Yours is Behr's Wood-Nymph which some claim is extinct. Obviously it is not, I get them in Kern and Tulare Counties as well.
