Observation date: July 29, 2016
Submitted by: Robert Gibson
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: This specimen showed up at our porch light which is beneath a large honey locust tree. The first shot shows the "dead leaf" resting position. The second is a posture adopted after disturbance (the moth briefly flashed its pinkish hind wings and then rolled over and became unresponsive. The moth was released (to lay eggs) so there is no confirmatory specimen.
I realize that the this observation is a little outside the reported range of S. bisecta, but this individual's appearance better matches the images of that species than the obvious alternative (S. bicolor). Please let me know if you agree with this ID.
