Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Caterpillar hosts: Pithecellobium, also feeds on Cassia, as per photo in later Instars, Prefers Young sprouts of, Caterpillar hosts: Pithecellobium this is the plant that eggs were laid on raised through 2nd-3rd with also cassia flowers as our trees are so small and have very little plant material. Thanks to Emmel & Emmel Butterflies of southern California P21 as there larva would have starved with out the cassia flowers. One larva is in first day Pupa other is probably near final stage before pre pupa both Seem Quite small as larva go. there smaller than the Cloudless Sulphur's we have in the yard. Probably due to lack of favorite food plant? Thanks Also go out to Ken Davenport for suggesting we look out for this species, as we thought it was just a fast flying darker orange cloudless sulphur. Thanks Ken! Hope All is well! Good little rain here last two days giant swallowtails still hatching! Heavy thunder storms!
