Observation notes: Found in a flat marshy meadow by a mountain stream with blooming Sierra shooting stars and other flowers. Weather: temperature about 70 degrees F, breezy.

Coordinator notes: Recently (1998) podarce was recognized as a full species and more recently research indicates that cassiope is a glandon subspecies, an entity described as a species in 1998 also in the Systematics of Western North America book. Jeffrey Glassberg told me personally NABA will probably adopt this change. The Pelham Checklist already has-Ken Davenport
