Observation notes: Medium sized caterpillar found on ground under Crimson King Norway Maple, Joppa Flats Education Center, Newburyport, MA. White head with black speckles distinctive. Skin had a "suede" appearance, and short u-shaped tail distinctive. Thinking that if the Maple was the food source, the purplish color of the leaves may be affecting the color of the caterpillar. Walks with an undulating pattern.
