Observation notes: I was surprised to see this beautiful moth "resting" in the parking lot of the Eastern Shore Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, located on Mobile Bay in Daphne, Alabama. It flew up in the air for a very brief time when I got close to it and, then landed again on the parking lot. With a car coming its way, I approached it again and picked it up. I placed it out of harm's way in a "flower bed" a few feet away. Once again, it flew up in the air for a brief time but came back down in the flower bed. This was my first time to see one of these beautiful moths...its color and unique features were "works of art" to behold.
