Observation notes: Sunny, 88 degrees, light breeze, getting humid. The butterfly was flitting from spot to spot in a wide section of the gravel road, perhaps 20 feet from the creek. Nearby were oak, maple, sycamore, cherry, locust, beech, sweet gum, sour gum, dogwood, buckeye, multiflora rose, goldenrod, wingstem, joe pye weed, boneset, tall thistle, lobelia, queen anne's lace, mouse ears, honeysuckle, poison ivy, grape vines.
