Observation notes: 59 degrees F, overcast. Hardwood slopes about granite rock outcrops. Noticed wilted leaves on buckeyes at Panola State Park Georgia today and investigated. Though the petiole at attachment seem healthy, all the leaflets were wilted and it seemed most every shrub had one leaf in this condition. I noticed a hole in the wilted petioles about half its length. On opening I could not find the larva causing the damage though about an inch long length of pith had been consumed. I then noticed the wilted leaflets had some silk on them. Opening the wilted leaflets have found larva enclosed in several of them.
