Observation notes: Observed on the rafter beams of a patio deck on a private rural residence in Mendocino County, California. Moth appeared lethargic, but flew off when moved out from under the deck awning. Weather is sunny and warm with a high of 94 degrees F. Surrounding vegetation is primarily redwood forest with tanoak and madrone. Understory and landscape species include ceanothus, manzanita, western azalea, and lavender.
