Eight-spotted Forester
Alypia octomaculata

Observation date: June 30, 2018
Submitted by: Cathi Strothcamp
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: My daughter & I found this little guy today. It was feeding on the various plants we have on our sunny deck. Today's weather is swampy; close to 100 degrees & high humidity. We thought it was a butterfly, but looked up info & found your site. It doesn't have a butterfly flight pattern. We were admiring his bright orange legs. I have always been a butterfly & moth watcher, but do not recall ever seeing one of these before.
