Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I am not totally positive on the ID. There were about 10 of these on my afternoon hike of about 3/4 of a mile. They were always in the deep, dark forest, or on the edge of it. I crossed a large grassy meadow twice and no wood-nymphs were using the meadow. (2 habitat shots.) I pulled the butterfly in my hand out of a spider web as it was struggling to get out. I couldn't hold it and focus the camera simultaneously, so I let it go and then photograpahed it on a hazelnut tree leaf.
