Virginia creeper sphinx
Darapsa myron

Observation date: July 08, 2018
Submitted by: UPnorthNana
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Sunny and breezy about 62 F with low humidity. I heard something collide with the glass door on the covered deck. I looked up and saw something plummeting downward. I went to the door expecting to see a small bird but found a moth. After 12 hours it is still alive but has not flown away. There is a pollinator perennial garden about 15 feet from the door. Flowers in bloom are bee balm, sweet william, cone flowers, daisies, daylillies, prairie primrose, hummingbird vine, lavender, Russian sage, and a variety of herbs.
