Observation notes: Very warm sunny day. Have started surveying a new habitat which is a dry inland oak area with some Redwoods mixed in. The area I found this butterfly in was a grassy clearing. Thought that this was a Common but then noticed in the picture that the lower eyespot seems to be ever so slightly smaller. Observed a weak and limited postmedian band. This seems to be an older faded Wood Nymph and I have no experience with a Great Basin so I'm not absolutely sure about the ID but habitat seems to matchup. Weak flyer.
