Observation notes: On Rocks above timberline 11,500+ very little vegetation also saw arrow head blue. both these species were very Small Especially the arrowhead blue Warm day 69 or warmer clear some haze from furgeson fire tons of California Tortoise also saw milberts tort a comma and frit mot a lot flying but these very few in species except tort explosion some willow up high a few mourning cloak mixed in. Ribes up high but no coppers seen very strange the absence of coppers! lots of doc also saw grouse probably rock grouse very desolate area ground moist in areas where there was a little soil. almost no soil but it seemed like clay here and there where the glaciers use to be! some succulents here and there!

Coordinator notes: There are no subspecies for whitneyi unless you treat damoetas as a Rocky Mountain subspecies, but chemical studies show they developed independently so should both be given species status-Ken Davenport
