Observation notes: Dave Patton, Phillip Wallace, and I observed one individual drinking on a rotting tree stump in heavily shaded pine and deciduous forest in Kisatchie National Forest. Upon being discovered, the butterfly circled at chest height several times and then landed again on the tree stump and continued drinking.
