Coordinator notes: Correct identification. Colorado's most common tent caterpillar species (though we also have Sonoran and Southwestern, and rarely some others). They'll use almost any broadleaf shrub or tree as a host plant. 2018 seemed to be one of their "infestation years;" they covered almost every mountain mahogany (Cercocarpus sp.) in the Poudre Canyon last May.
