Observation notes: I was pulling out living stems of a volunteer catnip plant that had fallen under the weight of a heavy rain. I saw this moth at 6:52 PM, resting on the ground. I'm guessing it had been sheltering there, underneath the stems I had pulled out. The stems had all their leaves and the flowers had started to bloom at the top of the stems.
I have five Hibiscus moscheutos plants in a row in the backyard, still in pots, that I hope to plant soon. If this is a female it will have a place to lay eggs. Maybe it has already done so. This moth was found sheltering in the front yard.
