Observation notes: I've looked several photographs over closely and believe the symmetry of the rather shallow scallops is indicative of Hayhurst's as opposed to damaged similar species, even though it's lacking highly contrasted black/tan checkering. Placement on the vegetation: low, the edge of the treeline, and partial shade, coincides with the species description.
