Observation notes: So I actually found several of these caterpillars on common milkweed in late June and took them in, not knowing what I'd get. Out of the two survivors I now have an adult (who eclosed while I was away and wandered around my apt for 3 days) and a probably 5th instar cat. I am not sure I got pics the first day but I will upload current photos. Will release the adult in the AM.
Also, since nothing documents it that I have found, the adults DO have a proboscis and happily drink Gatorade. He actually likes the orange flavor and most of my scaly winged houseguests don't...
