Observation notes: Late morning on a hot day in the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve, primarily coastal sage scrub, but including riparian areas with stream and lake habitats. Spotted this large and brightly colored Butterfly feeding on a Prairie Sunflower in a brushy thicket along a small stream. Also found Passionflower vines mixed in portions of the brush.
