Observation date: June 24, 2020
Submitted by: J Tinsman
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Sunny morning, comfortable temperatures. Butterfly nectaring on Prunus virginiana.
Identified as Cercyonis sthenele as the eyespots on the forewing appeared to be about the same distance to the wing margin, though the shape of the postmedian line on the hindwing gave me pause. Please correct as necessary.

Coordinator notes: You are so corrected. Yes Cercyonis sthenele masoni or paulus may occur in that area too and confuse you. I have seen oetus, sthenele and pegala all on the same day at one spot on Green Canyon Rd. near Bridgeport, California-Ken Davenport.
